As a child of 5 I played rugby at Ampthill Rugby Club, so I was only too pleased to have the opportunity to give something back some 20 years or so later!!
I relished in the idea of providing a new kiosk style building, on their new(ish) grounds. But as with most non-profit making organisations, and clubs every penny counts!
We didn't have the usual budget in order to create this 4m x 3m building. In support of Ampthill Rugby Club, we agreed to create the building without making a profit.
The Little Thatched Co agreed to create a robust structure, that would battle the elements, and provide a building that would be sympathetic to its beautiful surroundings.
The additional pitch is set within a beautiful nature reserve, Coopers Hill was once known as Ampthill Warren. The Normans are thought to have introduced rabbits to Britain in the 11th century and breeding has certainly been successful here!
Whilst the building isn't our usual style of building, and due to costs we had to sacrifice the oak structure and beautiful hand made clay tiles and thatched roof, what we wouldn't sacrifice was quality. So, internally and externally, we used superior timbers, and have built a structure that will last!
Hopefully you will agree, that once again we have demonstrated that a shed can be beautiful, and practical, regardless of its use!
What did the club think?
" We are extremely happy with our building, which has received much admiration. Thank You for a great service"
